Oh hiya! Sounds Good is a music blog that features nothing but good music and good vibes, always.

It’s run by me! My name’s Adam, and I’ve been writing about music and an editor of blogs for over a decade (which is crazy). Music journalism became my thing after getting heavily into music in my early teens. It was discovering Queens of the Stone Age on Popworld (RIP) that got me hooked, and I set out to consume as much of it as possible. This lead to learning about the existence of blogs and online magazines and taking a crack at it with a blog of my own, which soon became Sounds Good.

It became a real passion project for years and, with the help of contributors and photographers, turned into a decent staple of the independent music scene. We were able to feature new music from all over the world, from artists at all stages of their careers.

It closed in 2021 to focus on a joint venture called Dead Good Music with Alex from Words For Music.

Dead Good Music existed for four years and achieved so many milestones that still blow my mind. It grew every year and granted us opportunities to cover bigger artists and events thanks to the talented people who got involved, while sticking to our main focus of featuring up-and-coming artists.

It was a good time but personally, I suffered with serious burnout because of it. It required a lot of time and attention, and a constant eye on what’s happening in music in order to stay relevant. As something intended to be a hobby, it didn’t quite align with the traits of a hobby: It wasn’t fun for a lot of the time, and felt like another job.

As well as this, I noticed that being “in” music in this way wasn’t doing it for me anymore. In the beginning, it was amazing to receive new music and be in contact with bands, labels and PR people, but good lord is it a grind. Over the last year I realised that this wasn’t what I wanted to get from music, so I made the decision to put the brakes on Dead Good Music.

I knew I wanted to continue doing something in music, but didn’t know what. I didn’t want to start a new blog that published reviews every week. I wanted a space to do whatever I wanted, which lead me back to Sounds Good. I must’ve missed the green.

This iteration of Sounds Good will house content that isn’t influenced by deadlines, submissions or stats. A place to publish something written by the fan in me again. A review of a release I’ve chosen to listen to, and really enjoyed.

One of my goals for 2026 is to be outside more. Attend more gigs, and to be generally more present in the world. I’ve done a lot of self-reflection and it’s lead to being a little more assured of myself, which has brought this change in direction.

It’ll be sad to not have some kind of hook for Sounds Good, and I think it’d be nice to pay homage to Dead Good Music by continuing to ask people what their favourite fruits are. So…yes.

With this venture, I’m not looking to deal with emails again, as that would be insane. I’m not going to be publishing content on a weekly basis this time around, but you can get in touch on Instagram.
